How to put together a thoughtful gift hamper
One theme, a hero item and a few small supporting finds — the simple formula for a hamper that feels chosen.
By The Butter editors · 27 Oct 2026

Choose a theme, not a pile
Breakfast in bed, a film night, a weekend bake. A clear theme stops a hamper looking like leftovers and makes every item make sense next to the others.
Start with one hero item
Spend most of the budget on one thing they'll keep — a good mug, a candle, a cookbook — then add two or three small edible or practical extras around it.

Finish the presentation
A basket, box or tote they can reuse, some tissue to fill the gaps, and a handwritten card saying why you chose the theme. Check use-by dates and allergies before packing food.
The Weekly Spread
Good finds, once a week.
